In line with efforts to strengthen the knowledge and capabilities of faculty members and researchers in the field of intellectual property and to familiarize them with the process of protecting and internationally registering research achievements, a training workshop titled "The Patent Registration Process within the PCT Framework" was held on September 20, 2026, at the Ibn Sina Hall, organized by the Health Technology Management Office of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. The institute hosted the head of the International Patent Registration Department at Iran's Intellectual Property Center. The session aimed to familiarize faculty members and experts with the requirements, procedures, and considerations of international patent registration under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The legal and technical dimensions of the PCT and the various stages of the international patent registration process were elaborated upon, with mechanisms and measures taken to facilitate and accelerate the international registration of Iranian patents being explained. Key points regarding intellectual property protection for research achievements and the role of patent registration in safeguarding research results and enabling their exploitation and commercialization were also addressed. The workshop reflected the institute's commitment to strengthening the innovation and technology ecosystem and enhancing researchers' capabilities in intellectual property, providing an opportunity for closer familiarity with the capacities and requirements of international patent registration.
