The Second Joint Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute Was Held at the Pasteur Institute of Iran

 

On October 12, 2025, the second joint meeting of the board of directors of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute was held in the Avicenna Hall of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. The meeting was attended by the heads and deputies of the two institutes, along with a number of managers from the research, production, and support departments. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ehsan Mostafavi, Director General of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, welcomed the attendees and outlined the institute's current activities. He stated that the institute has two main missions: diagnostic and monitoring services, and the production of vaccines and biological products. The research, technology, and education departments operate to fulfill these duties. He also introduced potential areas for collaboration in production, research, education, technology, and vaccine policy-making.

Dr. Ali Es'haghi, Head of the Razi Institute, emphasized the necessity of developing a roadmap for joint activities and preventing parallel work, deeming the continuation of joint meetings essential.

Other participants also presented reports. The topics discussed included:

 

• The products and production capacities of the Pasteur Institute of Iran.
• Research and development of new vaccines, including mRNA, peptide, and anti-cancer vaccines.
• Synergy in R&D and cooperation in quality control and quality assurance.
• Development and production of diagnostic kits.
• Basic, epidemiological, seroepidemiological, and pharmacovigilance studies.
• Genomic studies and the utilization of artificial intelligence tools.
• Holding joint events and ceremonies.
• Exchange of experts and supplying the specialized needs of both parties.
• Prioritizing topics and defining small, quick-win projects.

 

At the end, it was decided that each side would appoint liaisons to follow up on mutual topics and operationalize the projects. The first joint meeting of the board of directors of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute was held in August 2025 at the Razi Institute.
