On April 9, 2025, His Excellency, Ambassador Jorge Fernando Lefebre Nicolás, the new representative of the Republic of Cuba in Iran, met with Dr. Ehsan Mostafavi, the Director-General of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. The meeting was also attended by the institute’s Deputy-Director for Production and the Deputy-Director of Development, Management, and Resources.

During the meeting, the Director-General and the Cuban Ambassador expressed their appreciation for the successful and continuous cooperation between the two countries in the field of biotechnology over the past three decades. They emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening these collaborations within the framework of friendly relations between the two countries.

The parties also reviewed the framework of cooperation between the Pasteur Institute of Iran and its counterpart institutes in Cuba and examined the progress in fulfilling previous commitments related to the Technology-Transfer for the production of new vaccines. A joint emphasis on accelerating the implementation of past commitments and developing future projects was another important outcome of this meeting.
