Pasteur Institute of Iran Took Part in a Specialized Drug Discovery Training Course at Institut Pasteur Korea
During August 24–28, 2026, the Institut Pasteur Korea, with joint support from the Pasteur Network, hosted a five-day intensive training program titled "Mastering the Art of Drug Discovery: Technologies, Tools, and Applications." Held at the Pangyo Techno Valley, the course was designed for PhD-level researchers from Pasteur Institutes worldwide, bridging basic research and therapeutic innovation. The program offered hands-on experience across the full drug discovery cycle—from target identification and 3D cell-model development to high-content screening and AI-driven data analysis. Daily modules covered assay engineering, hit-to-lead optimization, natural product approaches, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and AI applications in ligand-based discovery. A group project allowed participants to apply these tools, culminating in final presentations.
Among the selected participants was Dr. Ghazaleh Ghavami from the Pasteur Institute of Iran. She contributed to Group 2’s practical project, utilizing the Opera Phenix imaging system and specialized software for image analysis. On the final day, Dr. Ghavami presented her group’s cheminformatics and AI analyses, including Lipinski rule calculations, multi-parameter optimization scoring, heatmap generation, scaffold extraction, and compound clustering. The course was led by experts from Pasteur institutes and the private sector, covering areas such as AI drug discovery, screening platforms, redox biology, host-pathogen interactions, and clinical R&D. All participants received certificates upon completion. A follow-up online Q&A workshop is scheduled for September 2026 to support integration of course content into individual research projects.
