Pasteur Institute of Iran Faculty Member and PhD Student Participated at International Course in Cambodia
The Pasteur Institute of Iran (PII) contributed to the international course, IUIS–Pasteur Network Immuno-Cambodia 2025, through the participation of its representatives. Dr. Mostafa Salehi Vaziri, Associate Professor of Medical Virology, served as an invited international instructor, reflecting the institute's active role in global arbovirus research. Held from November 24 to 29, 2025, in Siem Reap, Cambodia, the course was organized by the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS), the Pasteur Network, and the Pasteur Institute of Cambodia. It brought together 40 selected students and early-career researchers from across Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America for an intensive program focused on "Immune Responses to Arbovirus Infections from a One Health Perspective."
Dr. Salehi Vaziri, a faculty member of PII's Arboviruses and Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers Department, delivered lectures on arbovirology, epidemiology, host immune responses, and diagnostic challenges. Additionally, Mr. Mohammad Ali Hamidinejad, a PhD candidate in Medical Biotechnology at PII, was selected to attend the course based on his thesis work on Dengue vaccine design. This provided him an opportunity to engage with peers and scientists from other countries. The curriculum covered the interactions between arthropod-borne viruses, their hosts, and vectors through the "One Health" approach. Scientists from various reputable international institutions delivered lectures on topics including arboviral infection surveillance, immune mechanisms, vaccine development, and grant writing.
The program also included workshops, group exercises, poster sessions, and scientific discussions to foster professional development and networking. It is envisaged that the Pasteur Institute of Iran will expand joint research and educational activities and enhance regional capacities in the monitoring and control of arthropod-borne diseases through these collaborations.
