Fourth National Vaccine Ecosystem Session Reviewed Global Best Practices and Iran’s Domestic Production Roadmap at the Pasteur Institute of Iran
On September 6, 2026, the fourth session of the "National Vaccine Ecosystem" series, themed "Vaccine Ecosystem: Iran's Policy and Global Experiences," was held at the Pasteur Institute of Iran, bringing together vaccine specialists, researchers, and experts to examine international policymaking models, assess the structure of Iran's vaccine ecosystem, and review lessons from the COVID-19 era. During the meeting, the vaccine policy, production, and supply experiences of India, Cuba, the European Union, and the United States were analyzed, with strong emphasis on adapting these insights to Iran's specific capacities and conditions, while Iran's own pandemic response and domestic production expansion efforts were also central to the discussions—highlighting the importance of leveraging scientific and technological capabilities, fostering international technological collaborations, expanding existing platform technologies, and adopting novel approaches.
Additional topics included the overall structure and performance of Iran's vaccine ecosystem, the research-production linkage, venture capital investment, data systems, and coordination across the vaccine value chain, with speakers Dr. Keyhan Azadmanesh, Professor and Head of the Virology Research Group at the Pasteur Institute of Iran, and Dr. Mojtaba Nofeli, Head of the Antigen Studies Group at the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, contributing their expertise. The session further addressed post-COVID marketing strategies for Iran's vaccine ecosystem, underscoring the need to harness the country's scientific, technological, industrial, and commercial resources to strengthen its vaccine industry standing.
This gathering is part of a 12-session specialized series organized in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute of Iran, the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, and the Secretariat of the International Congress on Vaccines and Vaccination, with future installments set to explore human and animal vaccines, regulatory affairs, financing, and emerging technologies.
