Dengue Fever Symposium at Akanlu Research Base of the Pasteur Institute of Iran Strengthened National Strategy for Dengue Fever Outbreaks

A three-day symposium titled "From Prevention to Response to Dengue Fever Outbreaks" was held from December 2, 2025, at the Akanlu Research Base for Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases of the Pasteur Institute of Iran in Hamedan province (300 km South-West of Tehran), with the participation of specialists and representatives from selected medical sciences universities across the country. This meeting was attended by skilled experts from medical sciences universities across the country from regions that have already experienced local dengue transmission or are considered potential hotspots for diseases carried by the dengue vector.

On the first day, Dr. Ehsan Mostafavi, Director-General of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, welcomed the participants and stated that the purpose of holding this session was to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of the country's medical sciences universities to better respond to dengue fever outbreaks. He also expressed appreciation to the Center for Communicable Diseases Management, the National Reference Health Laboratory, and the country's medical sciences universities, which, along with instructors from the Pasteur Institute of Iran, were responsible for presenting the topics during the symposium.
