The research and technology celebration of Pasteur Institute of Iran was held on December 24, 2022, at Modares Hall, presenting a report on the one-year activities of Pasteur Institute of Iran and honoring the winners.

In this ceremony, Dr. Rahim Sorouri, the  Director of Pasteur Institute of Iran, referring to the 102-year history of Pasteur Institute of Iran, thanked those who provided the advancement of the institute with careful management and planning. He considered the program of solidarity and honoring the former directors of the institute as one of the priorities of this institute and stated that for today's meeting, Dr. Mostafa Pourtaghavi, Dr. Morteza Azarnoush, Dr. Ahad MilaniNia and Dr. Mohammad Reza Zali are invited.

In another part of his speech, he warned about climate change, and that the researchers of the Pasteur Institute of Iran are expected to have plans for these challenges. Dr. Sorouri also pointed to the great efforts that took place at Pasteur Institute of Iran to control the disease of COVID-19, develop a vaccine, design and develop diagnostic kits and determine the variants of the virus.

In the remaining of his speech, he considered research as the foundation of the work of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and stated that in the reorganization of the structure and missions, attention should be paid to conducting international, and mission-oriented research for production as the priorities of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. He further mentioned that education is a requirement for development at Pasteur Institute of Iran and pointed out that our guidance should be towards international courses.

Dr. Sorouri also considered the conflict of interests as one of the challenges of research and production work.

In what followed Dr. Mostafa Salehi Vaziri, Deputy Director of Research, Technology and Education, presented a detailed report on the activities of the research, technology, specialized services and education management of Pasteur Institute of Iran. Pointing out that research is focused on infectious diseases and production-oriented, Dr. SalehiVaziri said that in the field of specialized services, unique services are provided by the Pasteur Institute of Iran for the diagnosis and control of diseases. Referring to the activities of Pasteur Institute of Iran, Dr. Salehi Vaziri pointed out that despite the challenges of the sanctions on international cooperation and the publication of papers by the researchers of Pasteur Institute of Iran, which have had an upward trend, he pointed out that research is the basis of the institute's activities, which should be quantitatively and qualitatively upgraded. He emphasized that we support technological and commercialization projects. Explaining the activities carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. SalehiVaziri mentioned the diagnosis of different variants, the construction of diagnostic kits and the training of laboratories, the launch of the diagnostic network of CCHF and monkeypox as other activities of the Pasteur Institute of Iran. By launching the NGS system, we are now able to improve our services to the health system.

Dr. SalehiVaziri then presented a report on the process of selecting the winners of the Research Festival, who were honored at the end of the program.

In the meantime, in this program, a clip of the precedents directors of Pasteur Institute of Iran, Dr. Mostafa Pourtaghavi and Dr. Morteza Azarnoosh, was broadcast, which was welcomed by colleagues, and the years of service of Dr. Saeed Bouzari, the former deputy director of research and technology of the institute, were shown with a clip.

In this ceremony, Dr. Seyed Davar Siadat was appreciated as the selected professor, Dr. Mehdi Paryan Noghani, Dr. Mehdi Behdani and Dr. Amir Ghaemi as chosen associate professors, and Dr. Farzad Badmasti, Dr. Kamran Pooshang Bagheri and Dr. Saber Esmaieli as chosen assistant professors. Dr. Nasir Mohjal Kafshdooz, Dr. Abolfazl Fateh, Dr. Ehsan Mostafavi and Dr. Sana Eybpoush as the winners with   the publication of highest impact factor (IF), Dr. Javad Vaez Barzani as the top producer, Dr. Delaram Daroud as the top technologist, Dr. Reza Jalali Rad as the selected author of a book, Dr. Rahman Shokri, Dr. Amir Amanzadeh and Dr. Shadi Aghamohammed, Fatemeh Sakhai, Mina Latifian and Dr. Maryam Esmaili were honored as the selected researchers.
