The first shipment of hepatitis B and BCG vaccines exported to Venezuela by Pasteur institute of Iran
Pasteur Institute of Iran has exported a cargo of hepatitis B and BCG vaccines to Venezuela for the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the head of Pasteur Institute of Iran announced.
Dr Rahim Sorouri said that 200,000 doses of each vaccine have been sold and exported to Venezuela. He also added that Iran is among the ten countries that export BCG vaccines and one of the five countries that export Hepatitis B vaccines in the world.
Pasteur Institute of Iran has the capacity of producing ten million doses of Hepatitis B and 20 million doses of BCG vaccines, Sorouri announced.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pasteur Institute of Iran manufactured the PastoCovac vaccine in collaboration with the Finlay Institute of Cuba. About 15 million doses of PastoCovac vaccines are produced and released to the Iranian ministry of health. Moreover, a capacity of 3 million doses of vaccine production is currently provided monthly and Pasteur Institute has the potency to export the PastoCovac vaccine to other countries.
