President Raisi appreciated Pasteur Institute of Iran at the Razi Medical Sciences Festival
With the attendance of the President and the Minister of Health, the 28th Razi Medical Sciences Research and Technology Festival was held on 23th January 2023.
In this festival, researchers, inventors, top researches, product-oriented researches, top research and development centers, vaccine manufacturing institutes, and top knowledge-based centers were encouraged.
In this event, Dr. Rahim Sorouri, the General Director of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, was also honored for the efforts of the researchers and producers of this institute in the production of the PastoCovac vaccine against COVID-19.
Speaking at the 28th Razi Medical Sciences Research and Technology Festival, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said, "This is a symbolic meeting to appreciate those active in the field of health and treatment, and I am sincerely grateful to all of them in this sector".
The President added, "Our scientists and researchers in the health and treatment sector, in addition to shining brightly in the great test of protecting people's lives against the spread of coronavirus, also were proud in the field of the production of COVID-19 vaccine and turned Iran from an importer of the vaccine into an exporter".
Dr Raisi stated, "Today, thanks to the efforts of researchers and activists in the field of health and treatment, more than 90% of the drugs needed by the country and a major part of medical equipment, including complex operating room equipment, have been produced and commercialised in domestic knowledge-based companies with the acquisition of global standards".
The President considered these achievements to be the product of the university and the efforts of professors, researchers and caring ideators of the country and stated, "These researchers should be encouraged to turn their ideas into products. Today, ideation in the university should be encouraged".
Ayatollah Raisi stated that the holding of this festival is a manifestation of encouraging those involved in the field of health and treatment, but this is not all, he pointed out, "This is a symbolic meeting to appreciate those active in the field of health and treatment, and I am sincerely grateful to all of them in this sector".
The President continued to emphasize the connection between the industry and the university and said, "If the needs and issues of the country are not considered, researches and theses, even if they have got a passing grade and are published in valid scientific articles, are not effective".
Ayatollah Raisi stated that our researchers should know the system of the country's problems and their research should be in this direction.
The President further considered the activities of 101,000 university professors in scientific and academic centres as a valuable asset for the country and said, "The existence of these loved ones should lead to the promotion of science and technology and the increase of knowledge-based and technology-based productions".
Dr Raisi clarified, "Our country still needs the presence of experts in different sectors and also our cities should benefit from them like the capital of the provinces".
The President emphasized, "This high-quality position should be improved with extra effort and the people should benefit from its results".
In the end, Dr Raisi said, "We hope that this honoring of researchers can be effective in motivating professors, researchers and other activists in the field of health".
